The Monteverde Cloud Forest Costa Rica

When you think of Costa Rica your first thought may be sun and beaches, but this destination has so much more to offer. Costa Rica is an eco-friendly destination and creates a stunning backdrop for meetings and incentives. The country has positioned itself as an eco-friendly meeting destination and has received multiple global awards for its conservation efforts.

The Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Preserve is dedicated to the conservation of wildlife and promises to transform your visit into a magical experience and a connection with nature. At 1410 meters above sea level in the Tilarán Mountains of north western Costa Rica, isolated, the Monteverde Village is one of Costa Rica’s most famous places and a world-class example of conservation.

Monteverde initially started been as a small forest reserve set aside by the Quakers who settled the area in the ’50s. Protecting the watershed for their dairy industry was their primary goal. As time passed and Biologists learned the great source of neotropical life existing, many efforts were made to acquire more land and expand the preserved areas. Monteverde’s protected areas now cover nearly 30.000 hectares of private reserves, including the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, the Santa Elena Reserve, and the Children’s Eternal Rainforest.

The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve offers well developed and user-friendly trails to access some of the most beautiful cloud forests, anywhere. Often shrouded in cloud blown in from the Atlantic Ocean, Monteverde forests are laden with epiphytic growth such as mosses, lichens, ferns, and bromeliads, orchids-even small trees.

Visitation is limited to 150 persons at one time (distributed on various trails), allowing for a very private connection with the forest. Monteverde Cloud Forest is in the highlands of the Central Pacific area of Costa Rica, probably the most visited park in the village.

With 10,500 hectares of protected evergreen forest, this paradise filled with cold, moist, verdant realm is home to one of the tropic’s most beautiful birds: The Resplendent Quetzal.

Monteverde is famous for its brilliant Quetzal population and has almost become synonymous with this legendary bird. Other cloud forest residents include Black Face Solitaire, Golden Brow Green Algae, and Black Crown.

Take a walk in the hanging bridges and discover all the wonders hidden in the Monteverde Forest. Feels like walking on the clouds! This cloud forest will invite you to see many types of animals, birds, and creatures you could only see in books. This reserve offers endless opportunities to create a memorable and educational experience for your group. An experience that no one will forget.
